About Amy Riewe, Proprietor
Music has been a part of Amy's life since she was very small - she started picking out tunes on the piano when she
was 4 years old, and mom and dad got her in music lessons right away(?!)  Amy studied classical piano for 16
years, the last 5 with Paul van Katwijk, retired Dallas Symphony Conductor, and head of the School of Music at
SMU.  She majored in piano pedagogy at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.  She also picked up the guitar at age
12 and taught herself to play, and studied voice with Charles Worley in high school and college.  She studied organ
with Christina Harmon of Park Cities Baptist Church.

Amy performed in "Your a Good Man, Charlie Brown" as Peppermint Patty, "The Fantasticks" as the Mute, and
"The Sound of Music" as a dancer and chorus member at local community theatre.

Amy was born with a passion for writing songs - her first was written when she was 9 years old - a piano piece
written for the Rio Grande River.  She has written over 50 tunes and lyrics, including "Unicorn", "Love Song for
the Mariner", "My Lover", "Warlock’s Jig", and continues to write Texas folk, Celtic, rock, classical and sacred
music.

From 1980 to 1990, Amy pursued a full-time music career, playing professionally around Texas and Louisiana,
playing everything from piano bar to ensembles, rock to jazz and pop, and Celtic music.  She wrote, arranged,
produced and recorded an album of Texas folk, rock and Celtic music using 24-track recording and engineering,
working with January Studios, Goodnight Audio, and Real to Reel Studios in Dallas, as well as MotherDubbers
duplication services.  She took time out to finish raising her son in the 90's, and has bravely ventured back into the
music business to pursue her first love, Celtic music.

Amy was music director and organist at St. Luke Catholic Church in Irving, Texas, from 1994 to 1999, and
continues to write and perform sacred music, as well. Performing in the 100 degree heat at Hawkwood Fantasy
Faire in August and September of 2000 as a roving troubadour was Amy's debut back into the music world, where
she met and performed with many wonderful Celtic musicians, including Casey "Bearhugger" Sledge and Shaddow
Walter of October Country.  Joining October Country band and Faol Ba'n band in November of 2000, Amy
performed with these bands, and continues to write and perform original music written in Celtic style.  She has her
own band now, Brendana’s Dream, and they recorded two demo CDs at Goodnight Audio Dallas, one Celtic and
one Texas Folk. Amy also teaches piano, guitar and voice, and has accompanied the Dallas Rotary Chorus.
